With Speaking In Tongues Avi Oster Raises The Bar For Charity Benefits

Businessman Avi Oster is no stranger to high level social events and networking opportunities; in fact, he thrives upon them. The New York based entrepreneur has earned a reputation for hosting exclusive events with a diverse mix of influential and famous attendees to promote pet projects ranging from the latest fashion trends from independent designers to philanthropic fundraisers to support youth development, but he may have outdone himself with the “Speaking in Tongues” event in July.

Bringing together an eclectic audience has never been a problem for Avi Oster. His events are regularly attended by a mix of celebrities, creative performers and innovators, financial figures, philanthropists and civic servants from around the East Coast, but few of his events have seen a reciprocal amount of diversity in the entertainers for the evening. “Speaking in Tongues”, on the other hand, brought together a combination of stars from television and movies along with literary giants like Pulitzer Prize winners, PEN/Faulkner recipients and Guggenheim Fellows to support the endowment for the Pushcart Prize fellowships, widely considered to be one of the most prestigious awards in literature.

Oster has organized similar events in the past, most notably the recent 360 Induced event to announce the launch of Grammy award winner Estelle’s new charity the All of Me Foundation (where Oster serves on the board of directors). 360 Induced featured performances by Estelle and co-host Ne-Yo, but lacked the diversity or number of performers that Speaking in Tongues brought to the table. Never the less it appears that the entrepreneur has found a niche in organizing high profile events stocked full of celebrity personalities and talented new entertainers.
